"I have been fascinated with WWI aircraft as long as I can remember. Was an avid scale modeler of WWI aircraft dioramas. Decided this year to finally get into Scale (or semi) RC flying. Can’t wait to engage in formation and simulated combat with other folks at the clubs I fly at".

Joe (Ballgunner) Wells - Payson, Arizona - USA
"I enjoy WWI modeling and aviation history.  Growing up in the 30's there was no WWII yet, and aviation was golden because of all the advances being made and Lindbergh made history.  I enjoy vintage models because that's what I flew when they were not vintage but state of the art.  Real WWI aircraft were still flying around to be seen.  The people who flew them or any other aircraft were all daredevils and that  appealed to kids."

"I just love to watch a WW1 bird fly through the air.  It is the reason I got into vintage aircraft.  The 3d and stunt planes have there place, but nothing looks or sounds better in the sky as a scale WW1 bird with a good 4 stroke engine".

"I really like the German side for modeling, I guess with a name like Schmidt what else can I say! WW1 is so much fun for me to build as I love to " fiddle around " with all the little "putsy" details to make one of these aircraft flyable, rigging, safteying turnbarrels, etc."

I have always loved WWI aircraft and biplanes especially. There's nothing like the sound of the wind in the wires.  I even have CD's of aircraft sounds that include rotary and inline engines from WWI and WWII.  Great stuff

I enjoy flying all types of scale aircraft, but there is something about the WWI and Golden Age aircraft that especially appeal to me.  I appreciate the beauty of the wire and cloth construction and the grace with which they fly.  I enjoy detailing the models and not having to fiddle with retracts,  flaps and
100 mph landing speeds."

Russ Kuhn "Tommy Tailspin" - Columbus, Indiana - USA
"
My interest in the "Nieuport Project" is not so much the thought of chivalry, derring-do, wind-in-the-wires images that normally come to mind when speaking of WW1. I had never built or flown a scale bi=plane before, so the idea of something I hadn't tried before sounded good. I am also interested in what we can do as a group, such as dog fighting, formation flying and other demonstrations at area fly-ins.

"
To me, early aviation and WWI are the roots of aviation. Look at all the deversity in the designs. Each was someone's idea of what would fly, the basics. They would get in these wired together machines and fly them. That's what  aviation is about, not the flying computers of today".
