"Until
I built my Replica Plans 7/8th scale SE5a the only way
I could regularly see a WWI plane flying was by watching my
RC model, or someone else's WWI RC model, fly. Now that my homebuilt
aircraft has been damaged by dogs or coyotes attempting to get a mouse
out of the wing, I'm back to RC and loving it primarily because when you're
in one you aren't really seeing it fly".

control line as a kid but always fascinated from the getgo with any old

why I'm and "old" engineer.

"I've been hooked on WW1 aviation since 1970 when, at the tender and
impressionable age of 5, I watched "The Blue Max" on TV at a
neighbor's house. Most people who know me will agree that I've been
ruined for anything productive or useful ever since. LOL! I
began making plastic models of these planes soon after that, but flying
R/C now gives me the chance to experience the thrill of seeing my
"kites" actually fly. (It's hard to go back to plastic
after that...) So far my experience has been limited to small "parkflyer"
type electrics, but building my "Antoinette" has started an
addiction to balsa.

"I have
always been impressed with the ingenuity and outright bravery of early
aviators. To climb in one of these machines and lift off toward the
heavens must have been absolutely exhilarating. One of my goals is to lift
off during a sunrise as would the early aviators on a dawn patrol".

“I got hooked on
WWI models when a club mate let me fly his 1/6 scale electric SE5A, built
from mag. plans. I loved how smooth and graceful it was, and decided to
build a WWI fighter for myself. Six months later, I maidened my
own electric scratch built 22.5% Fokker D VII, and have about 80 missions
on it now, though a rx failure caused a crash that has it in the repair
shop for a while”.
