June 21, 2003 - Hobby Hawks R/C Club Fly-In - Vernon, IN
The Vernon Indiana Model Airport was the location for the fly-in. It was well attended, and we connected up with Billy Thompson and his great looking Fokker Dr1. We had hope Larry Wilson would be there with his Bristol Scout. Larry was there, but Scout was at home. It was pretty windy early on, with a pretty good crosswind at times. Greg and Art worked on formation take-offs and flying with their Eindeckers and put on a good show. We still need some Allied guys to mix it up with!  Billy Thompson had his Triplane up a couple of times, and the gusty winds made it exciting for him!). Mike tried a flight with his Triplane after the wind died down. He's still struggling with the handful a Triplane can be on the ground (for him anyway <g>), and tried to pull it off a little prematurely resulting in some minor damage to the upper wing.  All in all, it was a good day.

June 6-8th, 2003 - Muncie Indiana - AMA Home Coming
With the 2003 being the Centennial of flight, Home Coming looked like it was going to be ripe with Vintage R/C aircraft and it would be the perfect venue for us to continue getting the word out about R/C Dawn Patrol.  Unfortunately, things did not work out for us as planned.  Art Shelton lost his father to Emphysema May 29th and, understandably, Art wasn't up to going.  Mike couldn't make it, his son Ted's high school graduation open house was June 7th, so he was out for Saturday.  Mike and Greg did go up Sunday the 8th just to see what was going on.  It turned out not much. The big flying day was Saturday, and there were but a few there when we arrived about Noon.  We each got a flight in, Greg with his Eindecker, and Mike with his Cloud Dancer (the Triplane wasn't ready, or more accurately, Mike wasn't ready), before the weather turned lousy, and the rains came in. It was fun trip never the less.  We'd heard that there had been a number of WW1 planes there on Saturday (three Eindeckers up together at one point apparently!). We'll try to do better next year.  We did get a chance to take a tour of the impressive AMA museum.  Click here to see some of the great looking WW1 R/C aircraft on display. Very nice!

April 13, 14, 2003- Tracee Field in Edinburgh.
A great weekend for flying!  Although Saturday was a bit windy, Sunday was fantastic! Art Shelton and Greg Emerick had their 1/5 scale Balsa USA Eindeckers (see the pilots and planes page) out for a number of flights both days, and Sunday, practiced formation flying and had a blast. Saturday was Greg firat flight on his newly recovered Eindecker and  Sunday was to be the maiden flight of Mike's AZM 1/5 scale Fokker Dr1.  Unfortunately for Mike, he had a badly, and I mean impossibly, stuck (half on) spinner (see more), that prevented him from flying the Dr1.  He flew his "PFAKKER" around instead (a GP .40 Stik).

So, send us info and pictures of you and your fellow "MOFers" and your planes. Whether it's simply getting together for a day of flying, or if you do MOF at your fly-in.

Images and info for the web page should be sent to mbealmear@insightbb.com . If you don't have a digital images, prints (4x6 is fine) can be mailed to:
